It’s never too late to work out, until it is.
In high school, amongst several clubs that I was apart of, my school’s cheerleading and dance team were two of my most favorite activities. There was always something to look forward to in those times, as I helped choreograph performances with my teammates and participated in region-wide competitions. Ever since high-school ended, my active lifestyle plummeted along with it. I guess you could say it was the cliche, ‘life happened,’ reason that resorted me to that conclusion but recently, I’ve decided to make some changes.
With the exception of sporadic visits to dance classes and the gym, I have to admit over the past years, my sightseeing walks around the city has been the most exercise I’ve had. However this year, I’m channelling my ol’ high school self and becoming more active on a consistent basis.
I personally prefer classes over gym workouts, as they motivate me more and involve a teacher that’s able to correctly observe, assess and reassure my movements/positions. With that said, I already started my goal with kickboxing for the first time and I plan to dance more as well.
For anyone reading this right now, I’m motivating you to challenge yourself and workout as much as you can. Your local gym will always be there but, if that doesn’t work for you, be like me and find a class that does. There are so many ways to be active today and it’s one of the most important things you could do for yourself. You’ll see the improvements in not only your appearance, but your health as well. 💪🏾
