Flounce/Trumpet Hem Skirts has become a very cute trend for this coming Spring.
It’s most commonly seen as gathered or pleated material attached to an edge of a form-fitting panel. Much like the classic peplum style, this gathered material adds a girly feel to any outfit, as it bounces or sways to your every step.
Below are some ways to style a solid color and printed flounce skirt, dressed up or down!
Solid Color Flounce Skirt
• Casual Dressy •
This Cushnie et Ochs Power Viscose Skirt ($795) is a beautiful piece for its rich maroon color and flattering side-flounce detail. It’s also versatile as it can be worn casually and dressy all year around.
A simple white top will always stand out when paired with bold and rich colors like maroon.
Try working with gold or silver delicate accessories to complement its color and flare.
If you want to go a step further for enhancements, a studded pair of shoes like Jeffrey Campbell’s Seneca ($207) and/or a metallic jacket like Pinko Ivy in Metallic Gold Leather ($1,265), can definitely revamp the entire look.
This outfit would be great for a late spring/early summer girls night out. It’s chic as well as striking.
• Dressed Down •
For a dressed down look to fit your comfort, try slightly loose sweaters that reach just above the flounce of your skirt.
This gray Oscar de la Renta Wool jersey skirt ($595) will work great with almost any sweater.
These would be great outfits for school or a friendly outing.
Left: A preppy/casual look featuring the trendy Jeffrey Campbell’s Melina Cut Out Boot ($154) and Aritzia’s Wilfred Vendome Sweater ($60) that shows a lovely textured check-stripe knit pattern. Definitely a trend setter.
Right: This outfit is for those who want to stand out. You can do so with cut out boots like Jeffrey Campbell’s Coltrane in Oxblood ($150). It’s red to black contrast is a real head turner. Also pairing those with a plaid patterned bag like the Cambridge Satchel in Tartan with Studs, could really set a statement.
Printed Flounce Skirt
• Dressed Up •
Although this outfit total’s over $5,000 (way more than I can afford), there is no doubt about it being used as a superb guide for styling a printed Flounce Skirt.
The CAMILLA AND MARC Kiska Skirt in Cheetah/Black ($315) shown below is not the typical cheetah print we’ve all become used to seeing. This print is more reserved, less bold and spaced out.
Definitely high fashion. O_O
As the skirt flares, it’s then followed by Christian Louboutin Monicarina Thigh-High Leather Boots ($2,695), that show off a sleek and slender silhouette represented by a towering heel and gorgeous stretch leather material.
The Proenza Schouler Ps11 Mini Classic Bag ($1,393), featured in oil slick colors of brown and blue hues. It’s the main piece that complements the skirt’s animal print and also sets the tone for adding other colors like reds and whites. Wear it as a clutch for a fierce and flawless look.
(AFFORDABLE FLOUNCE/TRUMPET HEM SKIRTS)
Some affordable ones I’ve come across thus far include TOPSHOP Moto Ruffle Denim Skirt ($68), JC Penny’s Worthington Flounce Skirt for Talls (
$34/$15) and Flounce Skirt by H&M ( $29.95/$16). If I come across anymore I’ll let you know.
I hope this helps!
